@@FenixLightingUSA Strongly disagree. I have several lights from different brands and often forget which button/action got me into strobe mode. It's purely irritating. There's absolutely no way anyone is using it for self defense. Against who, an epileptic robber? 100% unnecessary.

No. The charging port is on the back side of the light and you have to tilt the light all the way down to access it. Recommend carrying an extra battery.

As a power bank for recharging, yes. Will it provide a constant operational feed like the HM75R? No.

@@FenixLightingUSA I own 2 of your flash lights, this one include! its has never stayed on for longer than 10mins on a full 1600 lumen capacity! it over heats and shuts down to the level output! which i should of bought a cheaper less powerful light since its just cost way more to have 1600 for 10mins lol Also don't try to gaslight me as I have a email from your head office telling me that exact same thing. I still really like this flashlight but buts a lie its 1600 lumens and I will say this u can drop it of a roof and it will still work. Its great in all weather also! Just feel i was gaslight and lied to by false advertisement! SHADY in my opinion and lost my business now!

I agree, @OP, to a certain degree. And I have MANY Fenix lights. But they need to figure out the rubber cap situation. I end up ripping mine out, on the lights that I have, because, after only a few charges, the damn things won't go back in to the slot, no matter how hard you/I try. So I've bought subsequent lights that don't have the rubber port covering, OR I just buy Fenix batteries that have the USB-C port, in them. The lights that don't have batteries with USB-C ports, well, I have apparatus that can/will charge those (i.e., an older, inferior light).

If you rotate the mode dial quickly, it will bypass the white light and go straight to red, avoiding the "flash".

Each light has its own features and both would perform perfectly for your needs. It mostly comes down to operation and beam intensity. The E35R is s single press side switch where the PD40R v3.0 has a rotating switch. The E35R has a flood light where the PD40R V3.0 has a spotlight for farther distances.

The operating system. Has a toggle switch that changes the levels vs a second press switch.
